So today I brewed a CAP’s. By the way the new brew rig performed like a champ.

I took Toms advice to do a 90 min boil for a CAP. I miscalculated my evaporation loss. End result I barely got 4 gal and an O.G. of 1.070, kind of high for a CAP. I added a gal of water which brought my gravity down to 1.055. So I oxygenated, pitched the yeast and crossed my fingers.

Think it will be OK? I never added water to a finished batch before.

I top off on a regular basis, no problems.

If you either preboiled the add’l water or used bottled, you should be fine. Straight tap water may have contaminants.

Thanks Chet. I kinda thought it’d be ok. I couldn’t think what could go wrong, but I had to ask. Murphy’s law is child play when it comes to my luck:blink:
Even diluting the O.G. down, 1.055 is a CAP max. Usually anything over 4.5 gal and I call it happy although I usually hit the 5 gal on the nose but with the new brew rig and first time I’ve done a 90 min boil just through me off.
